Funky Orange Bowling Shirt

Happy Sunday lovely YLFR'S!
I picked up this thrifted retro shirt (sort of bowling shirt silhouette). I love the color and pattern so I wanted to see if I could incorporate this into my wardrobe since I am trying to work more color and pattern into my mostly neutral outfits. I tried it in various ways and wanted to post them to get opinions. Is it too crazy looking with the scarf? Should I just wear it with the necklace? Does it flatter me?

I am grateful for feedback!

Basic outfit is orange top,
Navy blue Talbots cardi
WHBM blue jeans
black biker boots
bead and locket necklace
Eddie Bauer khaki field jacket
striped orange and white scarf

I think it is a great color/pattern on you! Personally, I like it equally well with the necklace and with the scarf. I think it depends on how many layers you are wearing, so for colder days with a field jacket over, the scarf is definitely good because it adds even more color and has an elongating effect. For indoor wear, I think you can go either way.

Had to log back in to tell you how wonderful you look in this orange shirt! It really makes your face glow! I love it with the necklace and navy cardi, and it looks great with the scarf too. Do you have any other options for jackets? The khaki one seems a bit too casual and slouchy for your spiffy outfit.

    Love it!

Meredith, WHAT a find! That looks glorious on you, and I say it as a researcher whose orange-blue experiments are always a dud! That colour is made for you, and the print is delicious! (Note to self: Stop squealing or say 'squee!')

I think the scarf definitely works, but I also love having the shirtfront and collar front and center --- so keep the scarf for bundling up and go without indoors? What are the sleeves like? Would you be able to wear it without a topper indoors later in the year when it's warmer? You could certainly keep the scarf for then too, adding interest when more of the shirt is visible.

What an awesome thrifted find! Love the cheeky collar and agree with Manipada that the scarf distracts a little from the shirt. How fun!

Color is beautiful on you! Keep and enjoy!

    Thanks again ladies!
ManidipaM, The shirt had weird sleeves so I chopped them off. I don't think I'll be wearing it without some sort of topper. Hmmm.... maybe my twin could cleanup my scissor job on the sleeves. The scarf was actually worn just with the jacket but I was curious about whether it would class with the shirt if it was in the same color family so it was just an experiment!

It is so cool that you have a twin, and so much cooler that she's a handy lady too! :-)

And that scarf was a successful experiment indeed. I'm tempted to start matching scarves to shirts and tunics here on out...hmm!
