UPS just delivered my order from Express!

I have been so excited to receive this shipment. I ordered 2 faux leather jackets. One is the red moto jacket ClearlyClaire said I should definitely try. The other is a pretty butterscotch one. I also bought three scarves which are also among the photos ( a green one, a blue print one and a black gingham one) and 3 shirts. One is a leopard print that I hate and is going back. The other two seem to fit well but my eye is not adjusted to the puff sleeve which I realize is probably ok for my sloped shoulders. Here goes! Hope you like most of it!

    Forgot to include a pic with the blue scarf!

  • morethanbeige replied 12 years ago

    Love the red leather jacket with the scarf in #6! Wow! Both blouses are lovely.

  • morethanbeige replied 12 years ago

    Blue scarf looks great with your coloring!

  • catgirl replied 12 years ago

    Both jackets are fab! i have poison eye for a puffy sleeve, but you look good in this shirt.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 12 years ago

    I absolutely love the red moto jacket on you Meredith. The fit is excellent and the colour is lovely for you. I like the butterscotch one with the blue and green scarves, but not with the black and white gingham scarf - it needs more colour near your face.

    The two short sleeved blouses fit you well.

  • Sarah A replied 12 years ago

    I especially like the motos and the blue scarf, the shorts sleeves look good on you as well. Not too poufy at all.

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    @ MorethanBeige! I appreciate your liking both scarves and the jacket!

    @AlaskaGirl,
    I am a little leary of puff sleeves but the rest of the fit is good and I can always wear a topper. Maybe they will "depuff" slightly after washing?
    @Shannon,
    Thanks so much for pointing out that the black gingham doesn't have a enough color to go with the buttterscotch jacket. I just try everything I have most of the time and then try to see which look the best. I agree. Thanks for the thumbs up on the shirts.

  • replied 12 years ago

    Ack! I'm honored that you took my recommendation seriously Meredith!

    Did you change your mind about the asymmetrical one? what do YOU think about the red? Is it too bright? I think I like it better than the butterscotch (?) one on you. I like the first two scarves a LOT. I'd love to see the green one with navy/white and blue denim! The last scarf looks good too, but I can't see the pattern and colors as well.

    The blouses definitely look like they fit well and flatter your body type, but don't feel like you have to love the puffed sleeve just because it's *good medicine* for your shoulders. Are your summers cool enough that you'd often have another layer on?
    Great haul by the way!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    @Sarah A,
    Thanks for thumbs up on those blouses. I am feeling better about them now. I am so happy with those jackets! The butterscotch one is practical and the red one just really makes me feel fabulous!

  • replied 12 years ago

    Good haul and that red jacket is making me hyperventilate! SO FAB!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    @Claire,
    I love BOTH jackets. The red is just such a super color I feel wonderful in it. The butterscotch one is nice and I will keep it as it will do keep daily company with my trusty gray faux leather. I think our weather will be cool enough at work that I can wear a layer on top till I see if some of the puff will deflate just a tad. I think I just need to get used to it. I do like both tops underneath tops already. I have to thank you for recommending I try the red because I wasn't originally thinking of something that colorful. Here is hopefully a better look at the last scarf. The blue one.

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    @Alicat,
    I am hyperventilating over the red jacket too!!! Soooo happy with it. I need DH to take me out tonight!

  • replied 12 years ago

    That's great that you love them both! You must have ordered the perfect size right off the bat. Isn't the fit flattering? The blue scarf is striking, too. Can't wait to see what you wear it with!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    @Claire,
    I ordered the medium which fits great! I have the blue scarf on right now with a black vneck tshirt, black skinnies, new denim jacket and taupe shooties. It definitely livens up all the black!

  • Sarah A replied 12 years ago

    ohh that extra blue sc arf pic... Just fabulous!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    Thanks Sarah A!

  • Diana replied 12 years ago

    Both jackets are gorgeous, but if I were to pick one I'd go with red because the color is wonderful on you.

    I love puffy sleeves so I like the shirts too. I am tempted to go try them on at Express!

  • Inge replied 12 years ago

    Such fantastic jackets, Meredith. The rest of your haul is wonderful too. Great loot;-)

  • Jem replied 12 years ago

    My favorite is the red jacket, it looks amazing on you!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    Thanks Diana and Inge!
    I am practically doing a little dance right now. Out of 8 pieces I ordered (3 scarves, 3 tops, two jackets) I am only returning one item. It is a blouson leopard print that I like in theory but didn't work at all on me. I'm determined to find one that will though. I may have to ask Angie is she can make some recommendations.

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    Thanks Jem! I feel terrific in it!

  • replied 12 years ago

    The outfit you have on right now sounds gorgeous. I'm starting to think that everything you try on fits you right off of the rack! Well, almost everything. Too bad about Mr. Leopard. I'd be doing a little dance now too, if I were you. Geez, we give you a week off of school and you just go crazy!

  • citygirldc replied 12 years ago

    Those are really great jackets. The length, cut and color are perfect on you.

  • Deborah replied 12 years ago

    You must keep both jackets! I love them both on you and my goodness how fab is the red on you :) Scarves are fab and I don't see any issue with the shirts. I have a couple myself and I find them very useful. Sleeves are not too puffy at all. Infact they create a lovely streamlined look.

  • jen replied 12 years ago

    I want a RED JACKET!!!!

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

    Well I like the whole lot :D
    (The last close up of the blue scarf... your lipstick color looks so fab!)

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    @Claire,
    I wanted to love Mr. Leopard but it was not meant to be!
    Yep! I am a "girl gone wild"!
    @Citygirldc,
    Thanks so much for giving your approval. I love them too!
    @Deborah,
    I agree I MUST keep both! I'm glad the sleeves don't look puffy to you.
    @Jen,
    Go get one! You will feel fabulous in it!

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 12 years ago

    Totally love #6. That red just brings so much life and color to your face. I think it is a gorgeous color on you. I really like the butterscotch too but the red is just fabulous. It fits you beautifully too.

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

    Wow, that red jacket is so fab on you! I hope Mr Meredith took you out because you deserve it for such savvy shopping! The scarves are beautiful, too, but then you're already one of our resident Queens of the Scarf! Butterscotch jacket is great, too. And I already weighed in on the tops. I hear you about the sleeves, too. I think eventually you will find a cut of woven top that works for your shoulders but also feels more "you." For now, these will work just fine.

  • Jaime replied 12 years ago

    I like both jackets but REALLY like the red one. Love it with the zebra scarf. Also your legs look a mile long in those jeans.

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    @Aida,
    Thanks! I tried a deeper lip color since the scarf
    seemed to need it!
    @Dianthus,
    I agree that the red just seems to be superb but the butterscotch is nice and
    a little more of a work jacket!
    @Suz,
    "Mr. Meredith" LOL! I haven't shown him the two jackets
    yet but he KNOWS we are stepping out before this week is out!
    You are right about the tops. These will definitely do for now as I am sadly lacking
    and was able to get these for a very reasonable amount and they do fit and seem reasonably flattering to my figure. I am mostly disappointed that I have not found a printed pattern top yet that I like.

  • sarah replied 12 years ago

    WOOHOO! That red jacket is aMAzing on you. LOVE it with the zebra scarf. And the others are cute, too.

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    @Shevia,
    Thank you! I played around with several colors of scarves but I do think the gray zebra brings a little something extra to the outfit! Thanks for liking the jeans on me also!
    @Sarah,
    Woohoo indeed! I do love this red jacket. I have very few pieces of clothing that I just feel smashing in but I do love this one....and my poppy red raincoat too!

  • Joy replied 12 years ago

    Wow, Meredith, leather jackets were made with you in mind. The red is my favortie. Of the scarves, the green one is the standout for me, but all are lovely. I have a poison eye for short sleeves but these tops really fit you well. You can pull them off in style. I'm sorry that the leopard blouse didn't work out, but you have a great haul to play with.

  • Makrame replied 12 years ago

    Your haul looks great! The jacket are fab, and while I generally am not a fan of pouffy sleeves, these seem to be not-too-pouffy, and the fit of the blouses looks very nice.

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    @Joy,
    Thanks so much! I love the green too! I know what you mean about puff sleeves but I do think these work pretty well and the fit is good so if all else fails and the sleeves bug me I can layer them under a jacket or sweater. The faux leather jacket s are so much fun!!

    @Makrame,
    Thanks for the thumbs up!

  • ManidipaM replied 12 years ago

    Meredith, you sharpened up your hair! Love! Do go get 'taken out'!

    I can't decide which jacket I like better, so I'm simply going to say I adore the black and white scarf with the red and the green with the butterscotch, and bet the blue&black will look fabulous with your grey!

    Love that you got scarfs in three very different trends --- black & white print (floral? B&W), tie-dye (tribal and blue+black), and solid emerald (bright, 'it' colour)!

    I hear you about the difficulty of finding print blouses. I'm right there with you. A print is so easy for self-accessorizing or doing away with accessories entirely, but it has to be just so, doesn't it?

    ETA: Commented on the puff sleeves in your other thread. I have too say these aren't all that voluminous even as-is, and balance your shoulders and hips very nicely!

  • CocoLion replied 12 years ago

    I like the whole lot with the exception of the puffy sleeved blouse. I haven't read the comments, so don't know where you or others stand on it, but my opinion is that it's a little frilly for your strong classic style. Even though you look great in it.

  • ButterflyLady replied 12 years ago

    What a fantastic haul - I love both the jackets, all the scarves and the blouses - I love how they look on you (I have broad shoulders, so they look awful on me). The red jacket in particular is fabulous.

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    @ManidipaM,
    I am so glad you approve of the hair and the jackets and scarves.
    The BW one is actually a check gingham pattern. I have several black and white scarves but I wanted something with a checked look. The emerald one was just so lovely and actually has slight lizardy pattern. The blue is a tribal print all right.
    I love all three scarves so much! The blouses I was torn about. They fit well but the puffs take a little getting used to. I think they will look fine underneath sweaters and jackets etc and it occurs to me that I and put the white one over a dress (I have a black INC sheath) to make it into a sort of skirt and top look. I also have a black polkadot swingy A-line midi that I wore to the Puccini Martini Blast and I could put the black blouse over that for a slightly retro feel.
    Anyway, that is what I am going to try. If the poofs start to bother me I can alway get them taken down a notch via a tailor.

    @CocoLion
    You are very wise! In order to make those blouses work I will have to wear them differently since I agree that I am going towards a strong and hopefull modern classic look. I'm glad you think they look good but you are right about needing to make sure they work stylewise for me. In my comments to ManidipaM (see above) you can see what I intend to try to do. I still want to find a few blouses (print, and at least one more of black and one of white) that are more in my line.

  • ManidipaM replied 12 years ago

    Oops, my bad! I was so taken with the close-up in #6, I somehow slotted that as the new scarf! Green lizardly now makes me think of lovely garden geckoes! What fun! Maybe with your polka dot skirt for a subtle pattern mix?

  • Amy replied 12 years ago

    I love it all too. You should wear red more. It looks fantastic on you.

  • Angie replied 12 years ago

    I love it all! Are you keeping the lot?

  • modgrl replied 12 years ago

    I like all the jackets and blouses. I'm not sure about the scarves - I would like to see these prints in blouse form. That would be pretty! I like seeing you in colors~!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    @Angie,
    Yes I am keeping all of it. I'm so glad you like the pieces!

    I do have a question. I am desperately looking for some patterned soft blouses. I have none so if you could do a posting on types that would work well for my body type (hourglass/pear) and style (hopefully modern classic) I would be so grateful!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    @ManidipaM,
    Thanks! I'll look at the polka dot dress and see.

    @Amy,
    I only have about three things in red in my closet and I do love the color so I guess I need more now!

    @Modgirl,
    If I could find these gorgeous scarves in blouse form I would love it! I seem to do well picking out scarves but blouses I have more trouble with.

  • rachylou replied 12 years ago

    Hehe. I am the opposite of Una, I love a puffy sleeve (albeit an unhealthy love). I also really kinda love Express... like I walk the dog by the store window on a weekly basis.

    The red jacket is indeed totally awesome.

    And back to the puffy sleeves - I really like the tops on you. I feel they're different and unexpected, a bit of sweetener that perks things up.

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    Rachylou!
    Thanks so much! I chuckled when you mentioned an "unhealthy love"! Interesting abou the blouses adding a little sweetness. I know that is usually somewhat lacking in my outfits. I guess I'm afraid that sweet will either come off juvenile or little old lady. Not sure which would be worse!
