purple, tan and cobalt tribal print - WIW to twinnies for dinner

Dear ladies!
I am making my weekly much loved visit to my twinnie's house for dinner. We always have such a great time with her, her hubs, my younger sister, my mom, my hubs and myself. I am so grateful to have all my immediate family living close by. Sadly my father died in 2002 so we always feel that loss. It is a joyous occasion nonetheless. I love this purple, blue and tan combination so I hope you do also!

Wiw this afternoon
purple ballet neck tshirt -JCrew
Cobalt blue Tribal print scarf - Express
bootcut jeans - Levi Demi-Curve
caramel faux leather moto asymmetrical jacket - Express
caramel leather ballet flats - Antonio Melani
white ceramic watch - Peugeot
white gold wedding ring
orange purse (forgot to take a picture of it) will add.

    I love you in this shade of purple, Meredith, and I'm SO glad you got that caramel jacket, it looks fantastic! What a lovely ring and watch too. The family dinners sound absolutely wonderful, have a great time tonight!

    You look so fabulously chic in that jacket. The whole outfit is lovely for a nice family dinner. Have fun!

    The way you talk about your family is moving. We'd all be in a better USA, a better world, if everyone felt that way about being with their families.

    In picture #1 your top looks cobalt blue, in #2 it looks very purple. Maybe it's my monitor or maybe your camera? Anyways, the outfit looks great either way!

    What a wonderful outfit! You're lucky to have such a close family, geographically and emotionally!

  • Kiwichik replied 11 years ago

    A winning combination, the cobalt close to your face makes your skin look fabulous and you have great bling.

    You are very lucky indeed Meredith to be so close to family, both in distance and obviously in your hearts! My family is scattered all over Canada so we only see each other once a year or so.

    You look so fabulous in this cobalt colour and I love the mix with your cognac jacket. It gives the whole outfit a very rich and luxe look. Your rings are absolutely stunning BTW! Enjoy your dinner!

  • texstyle replied 11 years ago

    Love all of this! And your family stories too. :-)

    I love the color combo in #3. I must copy:)
    I can see a progression, how fun.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

    Great look and great luck (or intentional luck) to live so close to your family!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

    The purple looks so great next to the caramel! It really brings the rich color into warmer weather nicely. And wow! Gorgeous wedding ring!

    You are indeed lucky to have everyone so close, and to have that weekly tradition.

  • Jenava replied 11 years ago

    Super cute! I love that your shoes match your jacket, too.

  • ManidipaM replied 11 years ago

    Meredith, so lovely to be living near all your close family! What awesome luck. [Actually, I envy you for having siblings too --- I'm an 'only'! :-)]

    So... tribal print? Check.
    This season's blue? Check.
    Beige, nude or blush for neutral? Check!
    Bright colour? Check!
    White? Check, again.
    Daytime sparkle? Also, check.
    My, Meredith, but you're right on top of the trends today! :-D

    You look fabulous!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

    Meredith, this is another fab outfit! Those colors are just stunning on you. Love your sentiments about family, and Denise is right about the difference it would make if we all felt this way.

    Dear Ladies,
    Dinner was as lovely as it always is. Plenty of laughter food, wine and great stories. I do feel truly blessed. I got home rather late and slept in a little since it is a luxury I allow myself on the weekends. I just wanted to check in and thank all of you.

    @Inge,
    Thanks so much for all the kind words. With kind and caring people like you and our amazing YLF members to encourage me along, I am getting more comfortable with experimenting with different colors together.

    @JennyAnne,
    Thank you so much for liking the outfit. I am enjoying the jacket a lot!

    @CocoLion,
    I agree totally that the world would be a much better place if people truly felt the love and acceptance of their families. I think a lot of emotional and psychological pain is caused by people not feeling accepted or close to their families. In answer to your question. the top is more a purple color so I do think the color in the bathroom is truer than the color in the full length mirror in the hall. The lighting in both spots is totally different.

    @Alicat,
    Thanks for the kind words! I do feel very lucky to have my family.

    @Kiwichik
    Thank you for thinking the color is good with my skin and I am so happy that you think the ring is pretty!

    @Shannon,
    Thank you so much for liking the cobalt and cognac together!
    My family used to be scattered around after the siblings had all graduated and moved away. As we got older we all realized we needed to be together. I actually had started worrying especially about how few times I would be able to see my mom and dad over the coming years. My twin moved to Boise, and I visited her and liked the area I moved there next after a divorce some years later, then was followed by my younger sister a few years later after she was able to first secure a job with the school district here. Now my mom lives here also. She came in 2003 after my dad died suddenly in 2002. Twinnie, mom and I are all within walking distance of each other and the younger sister Georgia lives 15 minutes away by car.

    @Texstyle,
    Thanks! And I just want to let you know I am trying to practice with the camera more although I am not sure the exposure thing is working for me.

    @Zapotee,
    Thanks so much! I kind of try to show each layer separately and then together.

    @Shevia,
    Thank you! We all made our decisions to live close to each other in very intentional ways!

    @Rae,
    I am so pleased you like the ring. It is my major bling although I do have an eternity band with some nice stones. Maybe I'll wear it in my next posting. I'm glad you like the purple with the caramel or cognac as Shannon called it. I treasure my family weekly dinners!

    @Jeneva,
    Thank you so much! I was so delighted when I realized after the fact, that the new ballet flats I had purchased (couldn't find a nude pair I liked) actually match the jacket so well.

    @ManidipaM,
    I love your checklist! I didn't do it intentionally but I guess I have managed to be on trend today! I am so glad I have siblings! My mom was an only child just like you. and she always wanted a brother or sister. My dad on the other hand was one of seven children!

    @Deborah,
    I totally agree about the importance of family and have always felt so lucky! Thanks for liking the outfit!

    Hi Meredith --

    Agree you are fortunate to be so close in spirit and location to family! What a vibrant outfit -- the cool shades in that top and scarf suit you so well.

    Inquiring minds want to know if you and your twin share similar style leanings? I am always fascinated by those studies that show even when twins are separated/without communication they often end up with the same haircuts, color preferences etc!

  • Kyle replied 11 years ago

    You always exude a wonderful joyous spirit, which makes seeing your posts even more enjoyable. This looks effortless, but I know it took some thought, and it works. Not many people would come up with the blue/purple/tan combo, but adding the orange bag is a stroke of brilliance (furiously scribbling notes).

  • morethanbeige replied 11 years ago

    Great outfit and love the unexpected color additions. That is a fab caramel jacket. Love the sentiment expressed for your family. Truly special.

  • Meredith1953 replied 11 years ago

    @Vix,
    Thanks so much for liking the outfit! Now since you ask I will tell you about twinnie. She is 2 inches taller. We are very similar in coloring and vocal and facial mannerisms and share many tastes although she leans to more dramatic outfits and I tend to lean to super casual stuff. We frequently have purchased the same thing and borrow from each other a lot. We also have similar haircuts and like most of the same colors. I have been doing more pattern mixing then she but I think she is more adventurous when it comes to silhouettes.

    @Kyle,
    I am so glad you like the color combo! I am also very happy that you enjoy my posts. I do tend to be a "look on the bright side" kind of person and maybe that comes through in my posts.

    @morethanbeige,
    Thank you so much for the nice compliment! I do feel that family is special and this means a lot.

  • christieanne replied 11 years ago

    I love the laid back and art-y feel of your dinner outfit - beautiful colors on you (love the jewel tones with your coloring) and lots of texture with the scarf and jacket.
    Your wedding rings are gorgeous and looks like "you" - clean design but sparky :)

    You know what is fun about learning your sister likes different silhouettes than you is that you can try each others things as experiments and trial runs. My sister is built so different than me that we can't trade much (plus we have opposite coloring) and it is really too bad lol.

  • Meredith1953 replied 11 years ago

    @ChristieAnne,
    You are so right about trying on different silhouettes. Adrienne has nice broad shoulders (mine slope) and is two inches taller and we love trying on each others' clothing to see what
    the other one is doing right then! It is a treat!

  • Echo replied 11 years ago

    The older I get, the more I realize the importance of family. How wonderful for you and your family to be able to get together frequently. I see my mom once a week, and I cherish the time with her, as I have only started to realize that it won't last forever.

    Your outfit looks great, and I love how the jacket coordinates with the shoes!

    And your ring is divine. It is unusual to see an emerald cut with a halo, and it looks fantastic!

  • Meredith1953 replied 11 years ago

    Echo!
    We share a taste in emerald cuts! I realize that other diamonds are more "sparkly" but my favorites are the emerald and the asscher cuts! I

    It is exactly that I realized I wouldn't see any of my family, especially my mom, as much as I would like that kind of made it so important to live close by. Thankfully my siblings and my mom feel the same way. You should have seen us all together in Paris last summer. What a trip!
