Hi dear lovely YLFR'S
Trying for a buttoned up approach. Gray BR turtleneck, black jeans, black Etienne Aignier knee high boots, purple Talbots shirt mult-patterned purple scarf, Black BR cardigan sweater. Opinions please? Do I look too like it's too much black?

No, definitely not too much black. I am coninuously impressed by how good you look in cool colors (blue in the past, and now purple) Very polished and sophisticated!

I love this! I would not have thought to wear a scarf, AND a turtleneck AND a shirt, but it looks SO good! Very equestrian with the boots. And you look amazing in lilac/purple! *wondering if I have a turtleneck I could do this with*

This actually reads a little "British Equestrienne" to me. Or "Meredith Hosts Masterpiece Theater." Very fun and chic. You have a signature look that you keep exploring and tweaking with great results. Jolly good show!

I'm not sure about the turtleneck and the scarf, but the colors and proportion of this outfit are fabulous on you. I would just feel choked with all that going on my neck. You make it work and not manly at all.

I like the way the scarf softens this look. Not too much black, in my opinion. My reaction was the same as Rae's--my eye was drawn immediately to the color near your face. Lavender and gray are gorgeous with your hair and flawless complexion.
I think the repeated black in the sweater and boots is part of what lends this look such elegance. I agree with others that I didn't think "menswear" when I saw this outfit.

I like black so it would be hard to have too much black in an outfit for me. I like the pop or purple you added with the shirt and scarf to lighten up the black in the outfit. Great outfit!
