Made Returns to Mall and Acquired New BR Tops

Hello lovely ladies1
I took back my whole Talbots order I received the other day (I posted a tirade on the subject) plus two out of four JCrew tops and as I was leaving I decided to check out AT and BR. I didn't find anything I liked or needed at AT but at BR I found a few more summer tops which I definitely need. One of them is a striped tee (what a surprise!) and the other two are sleeveless. The black one has a drape neckline and will work with skirts as well and be able to be dressed up. The other sleeveless one is reminiscent of tops I wore in college and is slightly Boho or exotic. Even that is not my current style, I thought it was really cute and looked nice. I am planning on taking it down for a high school reunion with dear friends. I was actually sort of a hippie back then and I decided to let the little part of myself be expressed along with my current modern classic side. I hope you like the tops. I have included a few pics of them with different bottoms.

BR halter green patterned top
BR black drape neck top
BR short sleeve scoopneck striped top (olive green stripes)

    3 is divine...so perfect on you! love 1 also and 3 is a good basic...we know about you and stripes

    Oh, Meredith, such fun to find something that takes you back to happy memories! It looks more retro/boho with the jeans and then gets more polished and modern with the white pants. Such a great pick!

    Love the other two tops too. NEAT semi-tuck into the side with the capris there. The black top is beautiful --- I've been on the lookout for something drapey but still pretty streamlined, so am especially appreciative that this is both *and* can be worn with a skirt as well. How very versatile! That's a workhorse in the making. You could even mock up an LBD with a black skirt!

    Oh Meredith I love the halter - you must show off your gorgeous shoulders more often - this is definitely a no cover up top. Love the black drape front as well and the stripey T is a good basic piece.

    Go, Ms. Shoulders. The halter style becomes you and the pattern is lovely. Will look forward to seeing more halters in your future.

    Seriously fab! Love the boho halter. I can see you as a hippie chick :) And the other tops are perfect casual and nice for dress up/down looks.
    I have to catch up on your Talbots rant but I had a bad order from them that all got returned as well this week so I sympathize.

    Love everything about the top in photos 1 and 2. You look absolutely fantastic in that top! Great that you showcased possibilities for this top throughout the seasons with light and dark pants. Love it. You mention that it is not your current style...rethink that?? Trying to ignore my biases against black and stripes(I can't wear them, they wear me), the cut, fit and style of the black drape top do flatter you. I love all of these details on you, fits like a glove. Lots of possibilities for that black top. The striped shirt looks like it will have lots and lots of options throughout spring and summer too, casual and dressy. Just my two cents.

    Great tops Meredith!

  • Abie replied 11 years ago

    Love all three but especially the halter. I agree you have amazing shoulders and should show them off!

    @Jayne,
    Thanks so much! Yeah...me and stripes!

    @ManidipaM,
    I was so surprised when I saw the boho top. It just evoked an entire hippie chick vibe I used to feel so much. Both the SA'S I was working with said it was their favorite of the tops although they liked all of them. Great idea about mocking up an LBD!

    @Kiwichik,
    I am so glad you like how the halter looks on my shoulders. I usually feel they are sort of whimpy and slopey but I really didn't feel that way in this top!

    @Kyle,
    LOL "Ms. Shoulders". Well, I am very glad you like this one and now I will possibly look at a few others!

    @christieanne,
    Yes, I was a hippie chick. I should throw up a few photos of me in my patched jeans, and halter tops and Janis Joplin frizzed hair! Sorry that you had a bad order from Talbots. *Sigh* "sometimes a diamond, sometimes a stone" to quote the Rolling Stones.

    @Melissa,
    I am really happy that you like the tops even though you personally don't wear black and stripes!

    @Shannon,
    Thanks for the thumbs up!

    @Abie,
    Thank you so much for the compiments!

    @christieanne,
    I would be very interested in seeing what you return to Talbots. Maybe we could start a category of Returns to YLF.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

    Love the halter and the black drape tops! They are 10's.

  • Meredith1953 replied 11 years ago

    Thank you Angie, AKA *Zen Master* of style! I love myself in halters but wasn't sure.

  • christieanne replied 11 years ago

    Lol. Did my return without even posting. The pique jacket that looked bright green online was really a faded green (my DH said looked like a Masters golf jacket) and had a hole in the front. A pretty good sized hole. The other was a denim jacket. It was waaaaayyy too big and boxy on me.
    I tried on some things in store but came home with nothing.

  • replied 11 years ago

    You look amazing in the halter and I like the black top, too. Striped tshirts are always good for layering under denim jackets (one of my favorite looks).

  • ramya replied 11 years ago

    love that halter top :)

  • ButterflyLady replied 11 years ago

    I love all of those - you do have the perfect shoulders for wearing halters, and the print is gorgeous. I can see the black drapey top being worn a lot - very chic, and I love stripes so it goes without saying that I like #3.

    Thanks Anne, Ramya and Butterfly Lady!
