Gray and zebra on a gray Boise day

Hello to all the fabulous YLFR's on Saturday,
Here is what I am wearing today. White house black market jeans, ecco black ankle boots, BR gray vneck with cheap brown cami underneath, Vertigo Paris, short black trench, gray zebra scarf (courtesy of TjMaxx). It is comfy and still looks fairly put together I think. Hubs nixed my red pom pom scarf with this look in favor of the zebra scarf.

    Love the zebra print scarf!

Very cute, Meredith! The black trench makes your outfit look very pulled together, and the zebra print scarf adds a nice bit of pop with the pattern. Good job,

This is the best outfit you have posted so far, Meredith! Beautifully classic.

Very classic and put together. I think zebra is the new leopard (at least for the summer - I know a good leopard will never be replaced) so you're ahead of the game. Like the red earrings (and thanks to hub for his important input here)

    Thanks Kiwi Nicole and Jilly,
I'm glad hubby put his foot down and insisted on this scarf.
    Angie,
Thanks so much for the feedback. I am so glad you like this outfit! I'm not sure where I am completely headed stylewise but classic is in the mix somewhere. I just started wearing scarfs right around the time I joined YLF and I think they really help liven up my look which can look a little "conservative".
    Jsloane,
I do love both leopard and zebra prints! I am becoming to addicted to outfits with gray in them! I have a brown leopard print scarf that is brown but it doesn't feel as versatile with my wardrobe as this one. Probably because it is not gray!

Your hubby was completely right: zebra does elevate this outfit to the next level!

  • Vicki replied 12 years ago

I'm with Sveta and love the zebra print on you. Cute trench, too.

  • JennyAnne replied 12 years ago

I like the zebra. You look so happy!

  • Jem replied 12 years ago

Oh, I love this outfit. The zebra scarf is fab! :-)

  • Jaime replied 12 years ago

Great outfit - I am partial to zebras myself! Your jeans really fit and flatter.

  • Mochi replied 12 years ago

Boy (or girl), do I love this outfit. The jacket is particularly fab. I adore that there is a sort of monochrome effect going on here. I have to say, when a casual look is pulled off with verve and chic, it's really hard to beat.

Yeah, Meredith! Love the modern classic vibe in this outfit. Hub's choice of zebra was spot on, but I'm enjoying the little touch of red in the earrings. Navy brings your face to life -- wear more of this shade. Oh! And magnificent PPL in the jeans! I'm overcome with fabness!

    Sveta,
Thanks for approving hubs choice. He has narrow but very good taste!
    Vicki,
That little trench was really inexpensive at Ross. I want to find another better one in a different color because I really DO like the cut!
    JennyAnne,
Thanks for enjoying the zebra. I was really happy. We went to an import export place and got a few fab indonesian home decor accents!
    Jem,
    Thanks for enjoying the scarf!
    Shevia,
Thank you for the compliment on the jeans!
    Mochi,
Thank you so much for appreciating the outfit. I really like monochromatic looks a lot! I DO enjoy color also but I think the monochromatic look is probably most in my comfort zone. I think it makes me look taller and slimmer!
    Beth Ann,
Thank you for noticing the earrings. They are from the import export place we visited and I swapped out my current earrings on the spot and wore them home. I love the color!

You look very put together for a Saturday! I love the zebra scarf, and that's a fantastic coat!

  • nancylee replied 12 years ago

Very stylish, Meredith! Isn't a scarf a great (and super easy!) way to freshen up a look?

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    Hi ClearlyClaire and Nancylee,
Thanks for liking the outfit. The coat is a nice cut for me so I want to find another one now! Scarves are indeed wonderful for changing the look around. My wardrobe is pretty limited so I am trying to use scarves to get more mileage out of it! Plus with scarves you never have "fit" problems!

  • biscuitsmom replied 12 years ago

Terrific outfit! I agree, the scarf really takes it up a notch :)

  • Jewell replied 12 years ago

I'm a huge fan of zebra print scarves, and I love this look! I don't know what it is about zebra print accessories, but they always add a little extra oomph to an outfit. Well done.

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    Thanks BiscuitsMom and Jewell,
I agree that a scarf can make or break an outfit! Zebra and leopard prints are so classic it's hard to go wrong with either.
