Cream colored jacket alternate styling from green which works better?

I dragged out my off white Ann Taylor cropped blazer (hand me down from Twinnie) and tried teaming it with the base outfit I wore today. I realized I haven't worn it because I haven't been sure what to wear it with or even if it is flattering. I used the same scarf I wore yesterday. I have also post the same base outfit with the trusty green jacket as an alternative.

look #1
black boatneck
black jeans
black ballet flats
black and metal necklace
green jacket
green floral scarf

alternate look
all of the above minus the green jacket with a cream Ann Taylor jacket as substitute

Do they both work well? One may be better but I am trying to work the entire closet and haven't even worn the cream jacket yet. Is it flattering? Would it work with a sundress in the summer?

Opinions and suggestions are most welcome.....and Happy Friday. It's suposed to get to 65 degrees today. Woohoo!!!

    I like the cream jacket as much I like the green one! Please don't let it become an orphan :) I also like this outfit better with the cream jacket - something in me loves the stark contrast of the blacks with the white jacket :)

    The cream jacket is great! It looks good with this outfit and would work with any top that has a cream or white stripe in it, or a scarf that has white or light in it like this one does. It's a great way to gradually start wearing lighter colors as it warms up. It's very flattering and looks like it fits well, too!

    I like that cream jacket! It fits you so well. What about wearing it with navy?

    I like the black outfit and the cream jacket combo the best.

    I love the cream jacket on you!
    Your base outfit looks great, and I love it with the necklace. The scarf looks nice, too, but somehow it's refreshing to see you without a scarf and showing a tiny bit of skin at the neck.
    I think this is the most elegant and sophisticated look I've seen on you so far, and I really like it.

    I really like the cream jacket, especially with the scarf in pic 5. I love the green jacket, too. The styling looks great and now the cream jacket is no longer an orphan. I always enjoy seeing your pics Meredith, and your gorgeous smile!

    Heavens, that cream jacket is even better than the green! What a fabulous piece, Meredith! Suits that all-black to a T, and I *adore* the necklace. So perfectly proportioned. V 'effortless elegance'!

    I also like the cream jacket even more than the green. It looks great here, although I am not sure if it is cropped enough for sundresses.

    The cream jacket is great for you! You can pair it with nearly any color - and with jeans too. I can see you in a raspberry colored top with this jacket and jeans. And a long pendant necklace.

    I think the cream jacket works brilliantly Meredith and definitely gives you another styling option. I also love cream with navy - something to keep in mind!

  • ironkurtin replied 12 years ago

    Both are really solid basics IMO. Great smile!

  • Debora replied 12 years ago

    Both outfits are great spring looks! You have the most beautiful smile!

  • Makrame replied 12 years ago

    I like both jackets, and I think Parsley is right - you have more than one great styling option either with or without the scarf.

  • CocoLion replied 12 years ago

    They both look good on you and make for attractive outfits, but I prefer the one with the green jacket. It just looks a little more modern and fun, and projects a pulled together yet easy-going vibe. The cream jacket projects a little more uptightness, so I guess it depends on the occasion. If you're meeting with a lawyer, go for the cream one!

    I think both outfits are great! I love a pop jacket on a black outfit. The scarves and necklace are both great, too. I'm trying to think of something more interesting to say, but I just like everything here.

    Ladies! Thanks so much for helping me give some love to the little cream colored jacket. Such great feedback and so much more to think about for styling options. Navy gets a lot of votes and raspberry sounds like a lovely color to go with. I'll try it with jeans and I would LOVE to find a cute skirt to wear with it and with the green jacket! I'm glad there were votes that the necklace worked as well with the jackets as the scarf. Thank you so much!
    @Parsley,
    I know I wear an awful lot of scarves and that can be predictable so it's nice the neckalce and "showing some skin" worked well!
    @Sarah,
    I'm not sure if this cream colored jacket will work with sundresses but I'm going to try as it will give me more styling options. I don't love myself in overly cropped jackets so far.
    @CocoLion,
    Excellent point about the vibe each jacket gives. Maybe that is why I had more trouble figuring out what to do with the cream jacket. My wardrobe is fairly casual and the cream jacket is more corporate than what I usually wear. I think I can make it work with more items but will keep in mind it is a little less laid back and casual than the green one.

    I like both, and I normally have poison eye for light jackets... They are a different vibe but both fab IMHO.

  • ManidipaM replied 12 years ago

    Psst! Meredith, that cream jacket is calling out for a chambray shirt to rough it up a bit :-) Brilliant for a column of denim and utterly anti-corporate that way.

  • anne replied 12 years ago

    Wow I love doing this in blog format. So much easier. I like both outfits a lot, but have a little more love for the cream jacket - I think like Kirti, it is the higher contrast that appeals.

  • rae replied 12 years ago

    Both jackets work equally well - this is a lovely formula for you!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

    Ag, Thanks for liking it. Especially if you normally have a "poison eye" for light toppers. I had never heard that term before this forum and it's so cute and funny!
    ManidipaM,
    Wow, I hadn't thought of denim. The jacket is very fitted but maybe a sleeveless chambray shirt could be found to go under it! Great idea.
    Anne,
    Thanks for approving. I really like the blog format a lot now!
    Rae,
    Thanks for liking it! You are getting that coat that Zapotee mentioned? Can't wait to see pics. I am looking for a topper and between you, Kirti and Suz you have all provided me with a lot of pictures of different ones to look at.
